Concrete Co. reported to stockholders that earnings for the first half of its fiscal year were up 54 percent.

IA Journal received two First Place Awards for Editorial Excellence in Industrial Marketing's 23rd annual editorial competition.
Stewart Stein, Architects-Engineers, have announced the opening of headquarters at 159 North Dearborn St., Chicago 1. National Concrete Masonry Association's monthly magazine, Concrete Masonry Pictorial, was recently named the winner of an Honorable Mention Award in the 1961 For Home Builders Contest.
Ewing Co. expects its 1962 business to at least equal that of 1961, and there are definite indications that the sales picture next year will be somewhat brighter, according to Julian Goleman, chairman of the board and president of the firm.
Henriksen Co., Chicago, has issued their wonderful Outdoor Trails Calendar for 1962. For fishermen and hunters it's a must.
The Milwaukee members Clarence A. L. Jr. and Drobac & Associates have very attractive calling cards. Clarence has a fold up card which on the inside shows exact routes to travel to reach his office. Drobac has the trowel and plumb line done in a very clean design. Both are excellent.
Mr. Herr has been elected president of the Builders Association of Chicago and Associated Equipment Distributors will hold their 43rd annual meeting at the Conrad Hilton Hotel, Chicago, Jan. 28th thru Feb. 1. Effective Jan. 28th, the Pennsylvania District Office of the Portland Cement Association will move from 1528 Walnut St. to 1500 Walnut St., Philadelphia, Pa. Chicago Chapter CSI will hold their annual Christmas party Dec. 13th, at the Svithiod Singing Club in Chicago.
L. Doolittle, president, Penn-Dixie Cement Corp., M. Pierpont Warner, president, Nazareth Cement Co., and L. T. Welshans, general manager, Cement & Coke Div. of Diamond Alkali Co, have been elected to the Board of Directors of the Portland Cement Association.
Harold E. Brown, president, Concrete Masonry Association, and Fred Feliz, president, Southern California Concrete Masonry Association, have initiated a long range promotion program aimed at capturing for the concrete block industry at least five percent of the single family dwelling market in California.
