Herman L. May, president of the Associated Masonry Contractors of Houston and secretary of the national, reports a highly successful architect seminar there earlier this month. At the affair workmen constructed various types of masonry walls which were discussed by mason contractors. The affair, starting at 3 p.m., was concluded with refreshments and dinner.

William F. Collins, executive director of the Unit Masonry Association of Greater Cincinnati, is actively directing that organization in an aggressive campaign of consumer advertising extolling the merits of masonry. The UMA there is conducting a regular series of handsome ads in the Sunday Enquirer and the Cincinnati Constructor featuring dramatic views of masonry walls in all types of structures ranging from modest homes to high-rise construction.

Stark Ceramics, Inc., of East Canton, earlier this month completed its $350,000 expansion program. The program included construction of a 2260-ft. structural tile building and installation of new tunnel kilns and a drier. The new facilities will up Stark's capacity 40 percent to 700,000 brick equivalents a month, according to John H. Stewart, Jr., president.

Bob Kubas, in charge of government relations for the Department of Engineering & Technology, Structural Clay Products Institute, has left SCPI for a position with George M. Ewing engineers of Washington, D. C. Staff Engineer Al Yorkdale succeeds Kubas on the SCPI staff.

Oscar Person, MCAA member, Burlingame, Calif., is on a business trip to Japan. Oscar gave the fine presentation on high lift grouting at the MCAA recent convention in Philadelphia. The Brick & Tile Institute of Ontario has just released a 12 page booklet entitled "Your Way To Contentment" which pictorially presents the story of Burned Clay Brick... E. A. Brugger, president and general manager of the Koehring Div. of Koehring Co., Milwaukee, has accepted a new assignment abroad in connection with the company's overseas activities. Milwaukee Chapter Picnic Committee Chairman Jake Ribar has announced that the Big Family Picnic will be held on June 24th, 11 A.M., at Heidelberg Park, 5423 North Port Washington Road.
