Stelle, Arketex Board Chairman, Dies At 71
Frank P. Stelle, 71, chairman of the board of the Arketex Ceramic Corp., died July 6 at the Barnes hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
He was a staunch supporter of the MCAA and a close friend of many members.
Mr. Stelle had been confined to the hospital for 10 days with acute leukemia. Late last winter he had been hospitalized in Miami, Fla., where he had been spending the winter.
Mr. Stelle served as governor of Illinois for 99 days. He was serving as lieutenant governor of Illinois when Gov. Henry Horner died on Oct. 6, 1940. Mr. Stelle then served as governor until Jan. 12, 1941. He also served as state treasurer of Illinois.
His business interests extended to many fields. He was a lawyer, owned extensive oil interests, and operated a 700-acre farm near McLeansboro, III., where he was born. He was also a past national commander of the American Legion.
His loss will be greatly felt by the Mason Contractors Association of America.

Meanwhile, reports George Miller, Executive Vice President of MCAA, response to the free insurance and additional coverage at a low cost is nothing short of tremendous. As MASONRY went to press over 1,000 members had taken advantage of the free and additional coverage, with the insurance now at work for them since June 1, 1962. Additional protection, at a low $1.20 per $1,000 coverage, has attracted many members, many of whom have made this insurance available to other members of their firm.
The sign-up card provides for this kind of coverage also. Your company will be billed.
The Board of Directors of the MCAA, during the meeting held in Portland, Oregon, took note of the good response to the Association's insurance program. The result: They will be looking into other voluntary programs of this type which may be made available for members.
