Masonry
The beautiful new Wisconsin Telephone Building in Menomonee, Wis., utilizes a variety of masonry products to create a striking and useful structure. Architects were Grassold-Johnson and Associates, Milwaukee, Wis.
Architects Grassold-Johnson & Associates utilized masonry in this Wisconsin Telephone Co. building to control temperature, humidity and pressures, since telephone equipment must be maintained under extreme limits. The building is pressurized to about three pounds to prevent dust or uncontrollable air from entering. The exterior masonry, pictured on the cover and below, takes on various patterns as the sun passes over during the day. The mullions and coping are made from Wisconsin non Stone sawed and then sand blasted. The brick are Cold Spring Granite which blends in with the gray brick. Masonry work on the project was completed by D. G. Beyer Co., MCAA member, Milwaukee.
