Pre-Apprentice Course
Started In Cleveland
CLEVELAND, OHIO. Realizing that today's market is highly competitive and the need for craftsmen greater than ever, the Bricklayers' Joint Apprentice Committee has taken the first step toward better training, at reduced cost, in the construction industry in Cleveland.
Aware of the fact that both time and money are lost in the early stages of apprenticeship, the joint committee has agreed to a pre-apprenticeship training program-the first of its kind in the City of Cleveland.
In the future, when a contractor and an applicant file an application with the Committee, the applicant will be assigned to a "beginner" class with other apprentices. These classes will start as often as a minimum of twelve applicants are registered.
This new plan is highly recommended by the Mason Contractors Association and Bricklayers' Union No. 5.
The first class will begin its training in May, and the second class will begin its training after the minimum has been met. Therefore, at this time, we strongly urge all contractors who are considering bricklayer apprentices for spring and summer, to make application now to insure the success of this most worthwhile effort.
