The Old
A brief picture review showing the durability of Indiana Limestone and its versatility in today's modern structures.
No doubt about this "weathering test." According to Fred Griffin, Corydon, of the Harrison County Historical Society, Indiana's first state capitol building is in near-perfect condition after 151 years. Construction began in 1812, and it was first used as the state capitol in 1816.
Modern design is featured in an unusual contemporary column concept in the IBM building, Providence, R. I. Robinson, Green and Beretto, Architects and Engineers, were the architects and McNeely Stone Co. supplied the Indiana limestone. Architects are showing increasing awareness of the possibilities of new uses and techniques in Indiana limestone.
The New
Louvered panels of Indiana limestone are featured in this beautiful new school which leaves little to be desired in contemporary architecture. The designer has included many modern forms, curtain wall, ashlar, blocks and current styles in planes, light and shadow, all fabricated of Indiana limestone.
