Some ten of those employed in manufacturing and utility industries received some benefits. Retail and service employees had less protection.
In smaller towns and cities this type of protection is typically less frequent and extensive. Here few benefits accrue to employees in marginal industries, local retail stores and service industries. They are virtually non-existent for domestic and agricultural workers.
Although a substantial portion of the welfare plans provide hospitalization benefits and some form of medical protection, an estimated 18 million workers have no such financial backstop in the event of sickness or needed hospital care.

The junior executive complained of aches and pains to his wife. Neither could account for his trouble. We got some ultra-modern office furniture two weeks ago and I just discovered that I have been sitting in the wastepaper basket."
A man just back from Washington was telling about the trip. "I put in a hectic week," he said, "going from one office to another, trying to get things done. But the most unusual thing happened when I took out a blonde the last evening I was there. We had dinner, and as we were leaving I asked for a kiss. She slapped me." The friend said, "That must have made you mad." "No," he said, "I liked it. It was the first definite answer I'd had all week."
Although the structural strength of concrete is widely recognized, its design possibilities are often overlooked. However, at the Concrete Ideas Center near Tampa, Fla., the emphasis is on concrete's versatility for home construction. Literally an "idea center," this open-air gallery is designed to show prospective home buyers and architects the many new types and uses of concrete and concrete products. Matt Jettson, president of Sunstate Builders, Inc., sponsored and supported the development, design and construction of the Concrete Ideas Center.
