The Osborn Medical Center, Phoenix, Arizona, is a three story professional office building with 17 suites of doctors. The total building area is 32,000 sq. ft. with the structure being designed to accommodate two additional floors at a later date.

The design was chosen to afford maximum protection from the Arizona sun. The precast shades shielding the windows together with heat absorbing glass reduced the air conditioning load by 15 tons.

Approximately 480 pieces of precast, weighing up to 5,000 pounds were incorporated into the structure. Quartz and marble aggregate were used in conjunction with white cement. Panels were bolted into place at (Please turn page)

Trailer load of precast concrete panels. Unique shape provided the architect with effective window shades and gave the structure added beauty by giving unusual shadows to facade. North and south ends of the Medical Center used this type panel. Turn to page 12 where there is a typical detail connection shown of this facia unit to the structure.
