Saint Anastasia Roman Catholic Church
Waukegan, Ill.
The church is marked by a twenty foot cross. A lesser tower rises over the Baptistry and small vaults extend above the supporting masonry piers covering the voids in the roof.
The columns of the church were laid up in masonry as chimneys, the voids being filled with concrete having reinforcing bars placed in it as the column rose. Height of the towers was governed by the L/R ratio as accepted by the Chicago code.
St. Anastasia Church, Waukegan, Illinois, was the winner of the 1965 Chicagoland AIA-CACI Honor Awards. The citation states: "... a building highly distinguished and meaningful." The structure also received an Honor Award for craftsmanship in brick masonry work.
