BEARING WALL CONFERENCE ROUND UP

The first National Bearing Wall Conference held in Pittsburgh, Pa. drew an unexpectedly large audience totaling 630. Of this amount 373 were either architects or engineers with the balance being contractors, manufacturers and other Industry representatives. The staff of Structural Clay Products Institute under the direction of R. J. Otterson is to be highly commended on the excellent speakers and the to-the-minute scheduling. Out of the conference came a wider understanding of the value and design of masonry bearing wall construction. The unusual two-day meeting was sponsored by SCPI with the cooperation of the Allied Masonry Council and NADD.

Part of the hugh audience that gathered in the Ballroom of the Pittsburgh Hilton Hotel to hear experts discuss the Bearing Wall Concept. Registrants included 205 architects and 168 engineers, 243 contractors and industry representatives.
