Finish grade

Place about 1 cu. ft. of crushed stone or gravel at each weep hole in take.

Place concrete for footing and key against undisturbed natural soil.

FIGURE 2

Weep holes formed by embedding 4" min. dia. pipe in the wall. Space weep holes about 5 o.c. horizontally and about 8 above the finished grade.

Finish grade.

Place bottom of footing below the frost line.

Where recommended in text, water-proof back face of wall with 3½" coating of cement plaster.

Longitudinal back drain extending the full length of the wall and connected to suitable outlets beyond the ends of the wall. Use 4" min. dia. drain tile and place crushed stone or gravel around tile to form drain. Where backfill will consist of impermeable materials and will contain excess amounts of water, additional gravel backfill should be used to form a vertical layer covering the back of the wall and extending to within about 1' from the top.

Where soil under footing consists of silt or soft clay, place a 4 to 6" layer of well-compacted sharp-grained sand or sand and gravel under footing.
