Insurance For Contractors

(Continued from page 8)

The only way to be free of arguments between insurance carriers is to purchase both forms of insurance together and at identical limits of liability.

D-Employee Injuries

Similar to the General Liability exclusion.

E-Contractual Liability

Such agreements are normally covered under the General Liability Policy's Contractual division, although some provision may be made in the new format for a separate Contractual Liability "coverage part" in consideration of an additional premium charge.

F-Care, Custody or Control

The policy excludes damage to property owned or transported by the insured, or property rented to or in charge of the insured.

G-War Risks

Similar to the General Liability exclusion.

POLICY EXTENSIONS

A-Medical Payments Coverage

Provided that the policy contemplates "Occurrence" bodily injury and property damage liability in lieu of "Caused by accident," our first policy extension becomes Automobile Medical Payments coverage. By endorsement or affixing a separate coverage part, it calls for reimbursement of reasonable medical expenses incurred by occupants of an insured automobile. Not applicable to employees eligible for Workmen's Compensation benefits. Recommended.

B-Uninsured Motorists

Now compulsory in some states, optional in others, this extension is sometimes called Family Protection Coverage. With it your own insurance company agrees to pay occupants of the insured automobile for injury sustained as a result of an accident with an uninsured motorist, if it was his fault. The amount collected approximates what you might have recovered from the other driver if he did have insurance, subject to a limit of $10,000 each person, $20,000 each accident or occurrence. Employees eligible for Workmen's Compensation benefits may present claim under Uninsured Motorists coverage, then reimburse the Compensation carrier for any amounts they have paid.

C-Use of Other Automobiles

Specific individuals may be named by endorsement to protect against Bodily Injury, Property Damage and Medical Payment losses arising from use of a non-owned automobile, whether for business or pleasure purposes. Ordinarily not required where that individual has in force a Family Automobile Policy which names him (or his spouse) as insured. There is enough variance in personal automobile liability policies, however, to make close examination of this subject mandatory.
