Meet Your President

Donald R. Bidwell, newly elected President of the Mason Contractors Association of America, has served the Association as Secretary, Regional Vice President, and during the past two years as Vice President. During 1961-1962 he was President of the Detroit Mason Contractors Association.

Mr. Bidwell graduated from Cass Tech High School in 1947; however, his education was interrupted during World War II while he served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945. Upon his return he completed his education and began his bricklaying apprenticeship in the fall of 1947. He received his journeyman's card in 1949. He worked as a bricklayer and superintendent in the Pontiac-Detroit area until 1953 when he started his own business, D. R. Bidwell Masonry, Inc.

The Bidwell firm is currently engaged in many projects on the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University.

Mr. Bidwell is an avid flying enthusiast and takes active participation in many of his community sporting activities, such as the Little League, baseball, football, etc. He and his wife, Billie, married in 1948 and they are the parents of two girls and one boy.
