Fifty leading masonry contractors from coast to coast, holding the founding convention of the Canadian Masonry Contractor's Association in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, elected the following slate of officers for 1968:

Treasurer- Peter Martini, Toronto, Ont.

Opening session of the founding convention of the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association. Thirty-four delegates representing every geographical area of Canada were present to approve the constitution and elect officers for 1968. Eugene George of Kitchener, Ont., newly elected president, is in the chair.

A federal minister and two national presidents meet at first annual banquet of the newly-formed Canadian Masonry Contractors Association. They are (1. to r.): Hon. George J. Mcliraith, Minister of Public Works, Ottawa; Eugene George, president of the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association, Kitchener, and Peter D. Dalton, president of the Canadian Construction Association, Toronto. Mr. Mcllraith was the guest speaker on this occasion.

It is expected that an associate membership category will be established for which local and national and local manufacturers and suppliers to the masonry trade will be eligible. The appointment of an executive secretary will also be announced shortly.

Business sessions accounted for most of program, and the two day convention was concluded with a reception and banquet. Guest speaker is to be Hon. George J. McIlraith, Federal Minister of Public Works. (Please turn to page 31)
