Standard Structural Details for Building Construction
Standard Structural Details for Building Construction by Morton Newman, Newman Engineering Company. 358 pages plus index; 620 illustrations; 8½ x 11; McGraw-Hill; $14.50. Publication date: March, 1968.
Standard Structural Details for Building Construction presents the many typical structural details that are most frequently used in building design and construction. Each detail is drawn to proportional scale and described in terms of the type of materials used and the method of its construction so that the reader can select a particular detail for his specific design purposes. The information that is presented in the drawings and the text of this book is in accordance with the e requirements of the most recent editions of the Uniform Building Code, the Specifications of the American Institute of Steel Construction, the Specifications of the American Concrete Institute, and the West Coast Lumbermen's Association.
The drawings are separated into four sections in the book with with respect to the type of construction material used in the detail; all details are indexed and cross-indexed in a logical sequence so that each may be readily referred to or found. The four sections are Wood, Concrete, Masonry, and Steel. Each section begins with a brief description of the material and its general application in construction.
Standard Structural Details for Building Construction is an invaluable time-saving reference for engineers, architects, draftsmen, and construction personnel as well as architectural and engineering students who are concerned with the design and construction of buildings.
Morton Newman, the author, is a licensed civil engineer and heads his own consulting firm in Los Angeles. The firm specializes in the field of structural engineering.
