The second annual Tri-State Meeting of MCAA Chapters in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee will be held at the Broadwater Beach Hotel, Biloxi, Mississippi, June 27-30.

The Robert G. Evans Co. has announced the promotion of Paul J. Leonard to the position of Vice President and General Sales Manager. Leonard has had over 21 years experience in the masonry and concrete sawing field, the last twelve as Vice President of the Company's Western Division. The appointment of Ed Lindholm as Southwest District Representative for Essick Manufacturing Co. has been announced by W. C. Allison, National Field Sales Manager. Mr. Lindholm, whose territory will include California, Arizona and Nevada, has been with the Essick firm for three years.

Two new Associate Members of the Colorado Mason Contractors Association are Valley Block Company and Masonry Services Company. The Cincinnati and Dayton Chapters of MCAA sponsored a one day seminar on Bearing Wall Construction on May 17th. Dan Berich, MCAA Denver Member, was one of the featured speakers. One of the most effective promotional programs for the Masonry Industry is being done by Hazard Products, Inc., San Diego. For the 13 story Catamaran building they are mailing out each week a progress report. The structure is 8" reinforced concrete masonry.

Announce Settlement
Melroe Company of Gwinner, North Dakota and Universal Manufacturing Company of Hudson, Iowa have announced that the patent litigation between the two companies has been settled.
The patent suits involved four-wheel drive, front-end loaders manufactured by Melroe and Universal under the names "BOBCAT" and "UNI-LOADER" respectively. The suits were settled as a result of Universal agreeing to pay a royalty to Melroe under the patents involved in the litigation.

We'd like to call your attention to the fact that the War Memorial Auditorium and the Sheraton-Boston Hotel will be the site of the 19th Annual MCAA Convention & Educational Trade Show on February 1-4, 1969. The rails were designed and fabricated by Bay State Brass Rail Co. from material available through the Julius Blum & Company.
Honor S. W. Storey
At the annual meeting of stockholders held in Dallas, April 8, 1968, a resolution was adopted designating Mr. Smith W. Storey an honorary director of the Company. The Board of Directors, on behalf of all employees and stockholders, expressed appreciation to Mr. Storey for his devoted service and leadership to both the Company and the cement industry. Mr. Storey first became associated with the cement industry in 1923 and for the past 45 years has been an outstanding leader of the industry. This leadership was recognized by his election to two terms as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Portland Cement Association.
Prior to his retirement on April 8, 1968, from the Board of Directors, he was instrumental in the growth and success of General Portland Cement Company. He had served as the Company's Chief Executive officer for many years.
Open New Plant
Frank F. Kirchner, President, Kirchner Industries, Inc. has announced that their new manufacturing plant for producing concrete block and related products will be in operation about the first of May 1968. The new plant, located at the northwest corner of Interstate 270 and St. Charles Rock Road in Bridgeton, Mo., will service the requirements of masonry construction. The facilities have been in planning for about two years and under construction for the past year.
Motorcycles, constituting slightly more than 2 percent of all registered vehicles, were involved in 3.3% of all fatal accidents in 1967.
