INTO THE '70s
...a decade of progress!
The best place for some people to get away from it all is right in the middle of it all.
Are you one of those people? Then Chicago is waiting for you. Sightseeing. Theatre. Sports. Shopping. Nightlife. Symphony. Museums. Elegant dining. The world's best Everything.
As host to MCAA's 1970 Convention & Educational Trade Show in the Sherman Hotel, Chicago is waiting for you to discover the great indoors as well as its magnificent skyline and lakefront, its beautiful architecture, shopping and entertainment areas.
State Street and North Michigan Avenue are a shopper's paradise. Furs, jewels, designers' originals, baubles. And bargains, too. The variety of things to buy and look at in Chicago is breathtaking. And if you can't find it in the city, there are dozens of suburban shopping malls just waiting to serve you.
Chicago's Old Town is for kids no matter how old they are. A delight to visitors and natives alike, the unusual assortment of antique shops, restaurants and night spots combine to make Old Town one of Chicago's most interesting and most frequented locales. For jazz buffs, there's different, unique Chicago-style jazz, famous throughout the world, being played every night in Old Town as well as up and down Rush Street, a glittering thoroughfare of clubs, restaurants and bars.
For educational and cultural activities, Chicago's Museum of Science & Industry is the only museum in the world with a real submarine the German U-boat 202 captured intact during World War II. Or you can inspect a working coal mine, a walk-in human heart, or the world's first Diesel-train engine. The U.S. State Department brings visitors here, often instead of showing them actual factories and laboratories. You've got to see it to believe it.
