Make Money Move!
The Milwaukee Common Council, in a 19-0 vote, Tuesday, approved two amendments to the City of Milwaukee Charter that will provide for a 10 per cent retainage through the first half of any city project and no retainage thereafter.
In effect, contractors will be paying 5 per cent retainage over the life of the contract.
An estimated $2 million retainage will be saved based on this year's city buil 'ing activity.
The changes will be effective 60 days from the publication of the new ordinances or roughly speaking, September 15th.
The former ordinance required a 15 per cent retainage over the entire life of the contract.
This Common Council action is a direct result of the efforts of the "Make Money Move" Committee. All it takes is constructive thinking and action!

Koehring Expands
Koehring Company, Milwaukee, has strengthened its position in the concrete construction equipment field with an agreement to purchase Dart Manufacturing & Sales Company. Announcement was made by R. E. Burton, Vice President-operations, General Construction Equipment Group.
The Denver firm manufactures pneumatic and electric vibrators, which will complement the line of vibrators made by Koehring's Master Division, Dayton, Ohio.

Kenitex Chemicals, Inc., in a joint venture with DCCD Engineering and Bancom Development Corporation has opened Kenitex Philippines, Inc., in Manila.
Kenitex is a textured coating used to refinish exterior walls. Since it is twenty times thicker than paint, it eliminates the need to plaster and has a guaranteed 10 year life. Kenitex is widely used by the military in the U.S., Europe and the Pacific area.
