1970 MCAA Convention Report

CHICAGO-Panelization and the establishment of a national fund to promote the masonry industry were the key topics that occupied delegates to MCAA's 20th Annual Convention in the Sherman House, February 14-17.

Some 1,200 registrants and the more than 2,500 visitors who toured the '70 Educational Trade Show made this one of the largest and most successful gatherings in the Association's history. A total of 109 displays by manufacturers and suppliers to the industry made up the exhibit.

At the Association's Annual Meeting on February 17, Allen Young of Memphis, Tenn., was elected President, succeeding Donald Bidwell, Plymouth, Mich., who stepped down after a two-year term. David B. Soloff, Chattanooga, Tenn., formerly Treasurer, was elected Vice President. Replacing him as Treasurer is Robert Tubesing, New Berlin, Wis. Guy Apple, Phoenix, Ariz., was reelected Secretary.

On the 1970 slate of Regional Vice Presidents are: Charles Velardo, Newton Highlands, Mass., Region A. Harrell Webster, Bessemer, Ala., Region B. Robert Harrison, Mt. Prospect, Ill., Region C. V. E. Emory, Dallas, Texas, Region D. Stanley Childs, Salt Lake City, Utah, Region E. G. E. Blackstock, Seattle, Wash., Region F. Eugene George, Kitchener, Ont., Canada, Region G.
