MCAA Regional Vice Presidents
# CHARLES VELARDO,
Vice President, Region A
Charley serves as Vice President, Treasurer and General Manager of G. Salvucci and Co., Inc., Newton Highlands, Mass., a firm specializing in major masonry projects throughout the New England area. Charley joined the company in 1951, after having been a Government Engineer with the Public Housing Administration. He became a bricklayer in 1936.
He is MCAA State Chairman of Massachusetts, is active on the All-Weather Committee, and is Chairman of the Legislative Committee. He is one of the founders and for six years was President of MCA of Massachusetts.
Charley attended Boston College and Northeastern University, and served with the Navy Department during World War II. He is a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company in Massachusetts, the oldest military organization (since 1638) in the Western Hemisphere.
He enjoys all sports activities, including hunting, fishing and golf. Charley and his wife, Anne, have three daughters, Anne, Priscilla and Valerie, and two grandsons, Anthony and Charles Pagliazzo.
# HARRELL R. WEBSTER,
Vice President, Region B
Harrell is President of S & W Masonry, Inc., Bessemer, Ala. This firm's 16 years of activity have resulted in its growth to one of the largest and most respected masonry contracting organizations in the Southeast known for its quality workmanship and supervision.
Harrell served as President, Vice President and Secretary of the Birmingham Chapter of MCAA, which he helped to organize. This group now has 25 members. He also served as State Chairman of Alabama. He began his masonry career in 1946 as an apprentice brickmason and became a journeyman three years later.
A Navy veteran of World War II, Harrell served aboard an LST landing craft which was active in six invasions in the North and South Pacific theaters of operations.
Married since 1947, he and his wife, Thomasene, have two sons, Hal and Sheldon, and three daughters, Jennifer, Wendy and Tina.
# ROBERT HARRISON
Vice President, Region C
Bob is President of G. & R. Masonry. Inc., Wheeling, III., specializing in the residential market throughout the Chicagoland area for the past 17 years. He has been Treasurer and State Chairman of MCAA as well as Chairman of the Education Committee. During his three-year tenure as Education Committee Chairman, the enrollment in the Masonry Estimating Course climbed to a record high of 1,100 persons having attended it.
Bob presently serves as Treasurer and Member of the Board of Directors of the Mason Contractors Association of Greater Chicago. He joined the masonry industry in 1950.
Bob attended the University of Illinois and was an Air Force pilot during World War II, flying heavy bombers. He has a wide range of hobbies, including fishing and golf. He and his wife, Beverly, have six children, Robert, Joyce, Craig. Carrie, Reid and John.
