Scaf-Brak Bracket
Contractors in Western Michigan are now making wide use of the SCAF-BRAK steel scaffolding bracket that fits on the ends of 7' planks and hooks over scaffolding frames, making a perfectly level platform. The SCAF-BRAK bracket has proved to be a labor-saver-one man can load, unload, and erect platforms with a shorter, 7' plank instead of the 16' plank that requires two men to handle. SCAF-BRAK is also a lumber saver, since 2 can now be saved on the old 9 plank, and ends of planks are protected, giving them longer life. In addition, with SCAF-BRAK you can cut lumber to fit your scaffold.

SCAF-BRAK has been tested and approved by many state safety agencies. It provides more rigid, hence safer, platforms by making it possible to use shorter sturdier planks. Platforms, even on rolling towers, are locked in and can't slide. SCAF-BRAK brackets are made of heavy gauge steel with welded arm hooks. The offset arms allow abutting brackets to interlock. General, electrical, and plumbing contractors all praise SCAF-BRAK'S on-the-job performance.

SCAF-BRAK is distributed by the SCAF-BRAK CO., 1222 Lenox Road S.E., Grand Rapids, Michigan 49506.

Ridge Tool Levels
Lightweight Levels made of either aluminum or magnesium ranging in size from 3-14 inches to 48 inches are now available from The Ridge Tool Company.

The rust and warp-proof cast aluminum levels are milled to close tolerances and have matched vials for professional accuracy. The 18-inch model has four vials while the 18-inch and 24-inch models have six vials each.

Engineers pointed out that the magnesium levels are practically unbreakable yet are one-third lighter than comparable aluminum models. The magnesium line is of I-beam construction with large, smooth hand holes and hang up hole is provided for convenience. Vial assemblies are set in plastic holders for adjustment or replacement in the magnesium line and in the aluminum line they are locked in a truss-constructed body.

Other models include Torpedo Levels and Line Level. For further information write: The Ridge Tool Company, 400 Clark Street, Elyria, Ohio 44035.

Michigan Tractor Shovels
Design concepts and an analysis of each component of "Michigan tractor shovels are now available in a 24-page brochure from the Construction Machinery Division of Clark Equipment Company, Benton Harbor, Mich.

Taking the components one by one, the brochure examines the frame, power train, tires, hydraulics, boom and bucket design and capability of the Michigan line. Additionally, the booklet discusses serviceability and attachment features. Emphasizing the relationship between mechanical features and user benefits, the booklet points out that planetary axle design provides the user with maximum power to wheels for top performances over long, trouble-free service life.

A section on tires discusses proper tire size, tread design and thickness and points out tire coding.

A chapter on hydraulics outlines how the hydraulic system in each Michigan model is tailored to machine size to provide muscle up front, plus proper balance of power and quick response without sacrificing machine speed and traction.

A two-page section on boom and bucket design points out that Clark matches the dump height and reach on its Michigan tractor shovels to the haul units most commonly paired with each size machine.
