1971 MCAA Convention Report

HOUSTON-Wonderful Texas hospitality, warm, balmy weather and excellent facilities at the Shamrock- Hilton Hotel added a welcome dimension of pleasure to the serious business at hand at MCAA's 21st Annual Convention, February 6-9, 1971.

Motivated by the convention theme, "Make Money Move in '71," conferees and visitors toured the '71 Educational Trade Show, while one of the largest turn- outs of mason contractors in recent years witnessed live equipment demonstrations at the reactivated Ma- terial Handling Jamboree and listened to a topflight panel of speakers lecture on profit-making methods for the masonry industry during the four-day event.

At the Annual Meeting on February 9, Allen Young of Memphis, Tenn., was reelected President for 1971. Also reelected were David B. Soloff, Chattanooga, Tenn., Vice President, and Robert Tubesing, New Berlin, Wis., Treasurer. Robert Ebeling, Romeo, Mich., was elected Secretary, succeeding Guy Apple, Phoenix, Ariz., who became Region E Vice President.

Other newly elected Regional Vice Presidents were G. W. Veazey, Jr., Houston, Texas, Region D, and Ken- neth Parker, Portland, Ore., Region F.

Reelected Regional Vice Presidents were Charles Velardo, Newton Highlands, Mass., Region A; Harrell Webster, Bessemer, Ala., Region B; Robert Harrison, Mount Prospect, III., Region C, and Eugene George, Kitchener, Ont., Region G.
