SELF-CONTAINED
VACUUM ATTACHMENT LIFTERS FOR
PRESTRESSED AND PRECAST CONCRETE
Precast Unit Brochure
A way to speed the handling of precast concrete units while eliminating most of the work crew is described in a brochure available from Vac-U-Lift Division of Lear-Siegler, Inc. The new method is vacuum lifting-like a giant suction cup by a self-contained attachment suspended from a crane or hoist. Now applicable to concrete products, the device's operation, applications and benefits are discussed in "Vacuum Attachment Lifters for Prestressed and Precast Concrete." Write Vac-U-Lift Division, Salem, Illinois, for publication CLC-1.
Masonry Drop-in Anchor
A new type of masonry drop-in anchor that provides superior holding power in cement blocks, air entrained concrete, and other porous and low density materials, and that also can be used to reduce costs when erecting building structures such as sills, railings, and thresholds that are not subjected to primary loads has been developed by the Molly Company, Division of USM Corporation.
Called Parasleeve, because the shape of its sleeve is related to the shape of the parabolic clip on Molly's top-of-the-line Parabolt, the new fastener has several unique features that have previously been unavailable in an anchor of this type. It is designed for an interference fit to prevent spinning in the hole and speed tightening. its ends are smaller than the recommended hole diameter to speed entry, and its shape makes possible a tight assembly during manufacturing, thus preventing loosening of components during shipping or handling.
Parasleeve is available in 4 and inch diameters, with flat or round ends, hexagonal or acorn nuts, or as a stud masonry. September, 1971 bolt. It is made of 1010 zinc-plated steel and is also available in 310 stainless steel in flat or round head types.
Complete specifications and information are available from the Molly Company, Division of USM Corporation, 504 Mt. Laurel Ave., Temple, Pennsylvania 19560.
