'72 Convention Report

Who can fault Miami Beach in January? Apparently no one. Or so it would seem from the more than 2,100 mason contractors, industry suppliers and special guests who journeyed to Florida's most celebrated spa to enjoy the tropical sun, relax for awhile, and then get down to the serious business at hand during MCAA's 22d Annual Convention at the Americana Hotel in Bal Harbour, January 7-12.

Participants agreed that the enjoyable summer-like weather combined with the informative and productive program made this year's meeting one of the most memorable in MCAA's history. And the warm and courteous hospitality of the people together with the excellent accommodations at the Americana, which served as convention headquarters, contributed to the over-all success of this year's proceedings.

The convention theme "Think Masonry, Management, Money and You in '72" directed the attention of the delegates toward streamlining their operations to achieve the highest quality performance while attaining maximum profits for a solid-based business foundation.

At the Annual Meeting on Tuesday, January 11, David B. Soloff, Jr. of Chattanooga, Tenn. was elected the 11th President of MCAA, succeeding Allen Young of Memphis, who stepped down after a two-year term highlighted by numerous noteworthy accomplishments in behalf of the masonry industry.
