Identical end walls of a multi-winged Air Force building gave Wallace Masonry Co. an opportunity to compare Morgen Scaffolding (at left) with conventional scaffolding (at right).
Compares Morgen and Conventional Scaffolding on Same Job--
Gets 20%-30% Production Increase from Morgen,
Moves Scaffolding at One-Fifth the Labor Cost!
Wallace Masonry Co., Inc., San Antonio, had the masonry contract to brick the end walls on several multi-winged buildings at the Lackland Air Force Base there.
It was difficult to convince Frank Wallace that Morgen could save him money. But he had lots of brick to lay and a fast-approaching completion date, so he decided to test Morgen on one end wall and conventional scaffolding on another. He asked his superintendent, Harold Newburg, to keep accurate records of production, hours and cost for several months.
Less than half-way through the project, they analyzed their figures and found two areas of startling savings with Morgen.
First, they found without exception that each mason laid 20% to 30% more brick per day every day. Even when the mason crews were switched, this production increase on Morgen held true, proving it wasn't just the ability of one crew.
Second, they found they could move and stock Morgen Scaffolding in one-fifth the time that they needed to tear down, move, erect and stock conventional scaffolding. Two laborers and their 30' fork lift truck moved, set up and stocked 2,700 sq. ft. of Morgen Scaffolding on one end wall in four to six hours. Scaffolding an identical area with tubular took 4 to 6 men two full days.
Telephone and electric lines were in abundance around the project. Wallace was delighted to find that Morgen's fork lift bracket would pick up completely assembled pairs of towers 89½ feet high and lay them back over the fork lift to clear these overhead obstructions.
There is no question in Frank Wallace's mind today that Morgen Scaffolding is the contractor's best answer to high labor cost and today's more competitive bids. "I just wish we'd have bought two sets of Morgen Scaffolding in the first place," he says now.
If, like Frank Wallace, you're difficult to convince, we challenge you to make a similar comparison of Morgen Scaffolding against any tubular or any other "climbing" scaffolding. Most dealers have Morgen Scaffolding for rent with a purchase option. Write for the name of your nearest dealer and complete literature today.
