Owens-Corning announces a way to compete with poured-in-place concrete and tilt-up walls: new Fiberglas BlocBond.
It's the biggest breakthrough in masonry construction since the Great Wall of China. It eliminates mortar above the first course in concrete block wall construction. Which in turn can significantly cut construction costs.
This means that for the first time you can bid competitively with concrete block against poured-in-place concrete and tilt-up walls.
With Owens-Corning Fiberglas* BlocBond** you merely dry-stack concrete blocks above the first course. Then you trowel the BlocBond to interior and exterior wall surfaces.
This new construction method is more than just economical. It's also stronger. Concrete block walls built with BlocBond have twice the flexural strength of concrete block walls built with conventional mortar. Moreover, the BlocBond surface allows greater finishing flexibility and is water-resistant under normal conditions.
