Masonry Publication
Published by ESCSI
A special 4-color edition of Concrete Facts devoted to engineered masonry construction and approval of new technical programs and extension of several current ones were among the highlights of the 20th anniversary annual meeting of the Expanded Shale Clay & Slate Institute at the Mission Bay Hilton Inn, San Diego, Calif.
The special edition of Concrete Facts-the institute's quarterly publication contains an 8-page article on the engineering aspects of lightweight masonry: manufacturing, physical properties and testing. It also contains profusely illustrated descriptions of nine projects, mostly highrise, where lightweight masonry construction provides important economics by shortening the construction-to-occupancy period and speeding cash flow.
A "primer," entitled ABC's of Engineered Masonry Construction, describes basic applications in housing, hotels, motels, office buildings, apartments and dormitories. Copies of the publication are available from ESCSI or its members.
