Aerial view shows the pre-assembled panels being unloaded. Note the various shapes and forms. The huge sections were then lifted into place and welded to the steel structure of the building. Each panel weighs approximately 6,700 pounds. A revolutionary new mortar additive, Sarabond, gives the panels the extraordinary strength needed to be constructed without reinforcing rods or conventional block backup walls.
Interior view of the building showing the window units in place. Some 140,000 reddish brown, 4x4x12 sand finish utility brick were used to prefabricate the 660 panels that went into this project.
Brick panels with relief provided by smaller panels constructed of culled brick faced with marble chips highlight the Bryan Medical Building in Kansas City designed by Architect Ralph Oberlechner Associates.
