What are they looking at? Those who were in Las Vegas know it was the biggest and by far best MCAA Material Handling Jamboree held on Wednesday morning, Feb. 27th. Sixteen firms staged live demonstrations of their material handling equipment. This is just a small portion of the spectators who enjoyed the 21% hour event under the sunny skies of Las Vegas.
Rams and the Miami Dolphins would wind up in the Super Bowl this year, with Miami the eventual winner. Richard Lietz of the Chicago office of CNA/Insurance, which is handling the Workmen's Compensation, Liability and Property Group Insurance programs for MCAA, delivered a brief progress report on the plan now entering its second year. More than 100 MCAA members, he said, have joined the program, representing premiums of $1 million. An additional 120 mason contracting firms are expected to be enrolled in the program before year's end with written premiums in excess of $2.5 million, Lietz said. President David B. "Mickey" Soloff, Jr. of Chattanooga, Tenn. In his annual President's message Soloff reported that:
• The International Masonry Institute (IMI) is "selling masonry as it has never been sold before, and as masonry should be sold." The IMI will spend more than $500,000 in 1974 on advertising and public relations for the masonry industry. (Continued on page 13)
