Greetings from... President Soloff

A sincere welcome to Las Vegas. Perhaps it's a cliche to use that phrase about "combining business with pleasure," but that's one of the reasons this site was chosen-to give everyone a chance to relax as well as to discuss and evaluate the serious business at hand.

This will unquestionably be the largest MCAA convention in history. In recent times, each year has outdone the previous one from the standpoint of attendance at our annual meetings and the enthusiasm displayed by those present. It is certainly a firm indication of how our Association is growing in numbers as well as maturing in stature.

In the short span of two years that I have been in office, many significant things have happened. I am especially proud of the work that has been done by our committees, and sincerely want to thank our Material Handling and Safety Committee chairmen for working so diligently in organizing the Material Handling Jamboree at this year's convention. This demonstration provides the best opportunity anywhere for our members to see the newest construction equipment in action and learn how it can be applied to their own, individual operations.

I am also enthused about our newest committee, the special liaison group formed to study the current energy crisis and problems concerning materials shortages and transportation difficulties. It is a committee that typifies the progressive attitude of our membership. When difficulties arise, we are prepared to meet the challenges head-on and do our best to come up with solutions that will benefit our entire industry.

As I near the termination of office, I wish to sincerely thank my fellow officers and all those who served so dedicatedly in helping to promote our collective goals. It has been a distinct honor and pleasure to have served in my position, and I look forward to working with and displaying the same cooperative effort to our incoming officers that you have accorded me.
