"I Don't Know How We Could Have Scaffolded
These Walls with 2-Foot Pilasters Without
MORGEN Scaffolding and Pilaster Brackets"
Three of the large stores in the Interstate Mall, Altamonte Springs, Fla., have two-foot pilasters four feet apart. "Morgen's pilaster brackets made a cinch of an impossible scaffolding situation," says James Alexander, president of Deep South Masonry.
"We set up Morgen Scaffolding off the pilasters, not the wall. Then by utilizing the two-foot extensions of the pilaster brackets, we could plank right to the wall. Since the pilaster brackets can be placed anywhere along the wall, the distance between pilasters makes no difference. Our average production per man per day is 425 jumbo brick."
For this job Deep South had separate brick and block crews on their own set of Morgen Scaffolding. Because Morgen Scaffolding can be moved intact by fork lift truck, they were able to tear down, move to a new wall, set up and stock 14,200 square feet of scaffolding in one day for an average labor cost of a little over le per square foot, compared to a cost of Se to 10e a square foot for setting up conventional tubular scaffolding.
"We haven't been on any job since we first bought Morgen Scaffolding in 1966 that we haven't used it to its fullest advantage," says James Alexander. "On one job, we had a 51% increase in masons' production compared to working on conventional scaffolding. Without Morgen, I doubt very much that we'd even be in business."
