Starts Masonry in Dead of Winter, Increases Production by 35% with MORGEN
Ritum Realty Co., Omaha, figured they would need 16 to 20 bricklayers to complete a floor a week on the six-story Latvian Village apartment complex with load-bearing brick and block walls.
Superintendent Dean Rowe reports that with Morgen Scaffolding they found they could complete the masonry on each floor in only four days with 10 to 12 masons on the job-a speed-up of 35% or more.
The project began in the dead of winter under the most adverse weather, terrain and job conditions. The Morgen Winter Enclosure System let masonry contractor Harry Hahn keep working through the cold weather and let the complex open several months earlier than anticipated.
Hahn said he and his men especially like Morgen Scaffolding because they do not have to move from one set of scaffold to another as they did on conventional scaffold while it was being restocked. The elimination of scaffolding and the work of moving planks and material from floor to floor greatly decreased the laborer cost as well as the mason cost. He calls Morgen Scaffolding "The Bricklayers' Dream."
