SECRETARY

VICE PRESIDENT

EUGENE GEORGE
From Canada comes MCAA's newly elected Secretary, Eugene George of Kitchener, Ontario. Gene is a Past-President of the Canadian Masonry Contractors Association and has served several terms as MCAA Regional Vice President representing Canada.

In other industry posts, he is Chairman of the Masonry Industry All-Weather Committee and a member of that organization's Technical Task Group. He additionally is a Trustee of both the International Masonry Institute and the International Bricklayer and Trowel Trades Pension Trust.

One of the industry's most dedicated workers and inspiring leaders, Gene's attendance at industry functions nears the perfect mark-both in the United States and Canada. In recognition of his dedication and talents, he was presented with MCAA's highest honor-The Lead Man Award at the Annual Convention in Atlanta in 1973.

Gene is President of Canada's largest mason contracting firm, George & Asmussen Ltd. of Kitchener. When not engaged in the promotion of his own business and the masonry industry in general, he relaxes in the operation of his thoroughbred racing stable, piloting his own plane, and playing hockey. An avid sportsman, he has been associated with the National Hockey League's New York Rangers as president of one of their prime farm clubs.

With all of this activity, he still finds time to engage in what he terms his most important role being a devoted husband to his wife, Patsy, and father of their eight sons.

ROBERT EBELING
Bob Ebeling, newly elected Vice President of MCAA, served the association in distinguished fashion as Secretary for three consecutive terms. One of the spearheads behind the industry's training programs, Bob is Chairman of MCAA's Apprenticeship and Training Committee, and was Chairman and currently serves as Secretary of the National Joint Bricklaying and Apprenticeship Committee. In addition, he serves as a Trustee on the Bricklayers & Trowel Trades International Pension Trust.

In local and regional industry affairs, Bob has held the offices of President, Secretary and Board member of the Detroit Masonry Contractors Association, and has been active in the Mason Contractors Association of Michigan, having served as State Chairman for two years.

On the business side, he is President and Field Manager of Ebeling & Hicks, Inc., Romeo, Mich. His firm has engaged in numerous well-known institutional and commercial masonry projects throughout the Detroit and Southeastern Michigan areas for more than twenty years.

During World War II Bob was with the U.S. Army infantry in the European Theater of Operations. He and his wife, Florence, are active in many areas of the American Lutheran Church. They have five daughters, two sons (both of whom are journeymen bricklayers), and four grandchildren.
