Morgen Scaffolding Puts Miami Contractor 20% Ahead of Schedule. Half the Laborers Needed.
A three-story brick-and-block commercial building in Miami was completed well ahead of schedule, thanks to the increase in masons production provided by Morgen Scaffolding.
Cook & Pruitt Masonry Contractors, Inc., Miami, demonstrated the profitability of Morgen Scaffolding on the Southern Bell Telephone building. It required 75,000 jumbo utility brick with an 8" block back-up.
Pat Patterson, general superintendent, states, "Production on Morgen Scaffolding was at least 20% greater than on the tubular frames we had been using."
But that was only the beginning of the extra profit.
"Increase in production, lower cost per square foot in scaffolding a wall, ease in moving from wall to wall, in erection and dismantling they're all great advantages over tubular frames," Patterson continues.
He says he needed four less laborers on the job because of Morgen. On tubular scaffolding, he would have needed 8 masons, 7 laborers, one fork lift operator and one mud man. On Morgen, he used the same crew with only three laborers instead of seven. Two of these laborers and the fork lift operator erected the scaffolding, moved scaffolding from wall to wall, lowered carriages, dismantled and loaded the towers on a pallet on a flat-bed trailer. Between moves, the two laborers were on the scaffolding tending masons and jacking up the platforms to keep the masons at their most productive working level.
If you're still trying to fight the cost-price squeeze with yesterday's scaffolding, you should see what Morgen can do for your profits. Try it out on a rental basis with option to buy.
