# Jones, Adler Promoted

William D. Jones III has been elected a corporate vice president and named general manager of General Portland's Signal Mountain Division headquartered in Chattanooga, Tenn. Walter Adler, Jr. has been elected a corporate vice president and named general manager, North Texas Operations for the Trinity Division of General Portland, Inc. These announcements were made by L. James Wade, Jr., chairman of the board and chief executive officer for General Portland, Inc.


# CREATE APPRENTICESHIP TRUST

An "Apprenticeship Trust", designed to create a national program that will facilitate the training of bricklayers and other trowel tradesmen in the United States and Canada, has been created by the Mason Contractors Association of America and the Bricklayers International Union.

Charles Velardo, President of the Mason Contractors Association of America, and Thomas F. Murphy, President of the Bricklayers, Masons and Plasterers International Union of America, said that the new trust is called the International Masonry Apprenticeship Trust (IMAT).

They noted that IMAT will work to strengthen existing local joint apprentice training programs by improving curricula, standardizing in- (Continued on page 22)


# Proclaim Minnesota State Concrete & Masonry Day

Governor Wendell Anderson has proclaimed July 15, 1975 Minnesota's state Concrete and Masonry Day in honor of the over 8,000 Minnesotans actively involved with the state's estimated 150 million dollar/year concrete and masonry industry.

Though this is the first time the industry has been so honored, it falls on the same day that the Minnesota Concrete and Masonry Contractors Association conducts their "Third Annual Project in the Park" to promote public awareness of the versatility, economy and aesthetics of concrete and masonry products.
