(Continued from page 16) greater, masonry, technological capabilities open to them now and when they become practitioners.

An IMI design publication will be produced to show outstanding examples of the economy, flexibility and aesthetics of all types of masonry in contemporary design. It will be for use at A/E schools, in conjunction with the film, but also will be distributed to design professionals and others.

In the 1976 McGraw Hill Sweets reference files placed in 23,000 architectural offices and 11,000 engineering offices in the U.S., IMI will have an 8-page technical document on the loadbearing masonry system. The publication includes technical data on the use of both brick and concrete masonry units in loadbearing masonry design, thanks to the technical input of the engineering departments of the Brick Institute of America and the National Concrete Masonry Association. A Canadian version of the document, being produced with technical help from the Canadian Masonry Contractors' Association, will be placed in the Sweets files used in the offices of thousands of A/Es in Canada.

A newspaper clipsheet featuring a variety of news articles about masonry construction is planned and will be sent to daily newspapers throughout North America and given to IMI spin-off promotion groups, and others, for use in weekly and special interest publications.

A new IMI cost guide is planned which will encompass cost information compiled from local cost guides produced by IMI spin-off promotion groups in various geographic areas of the U.S. and Canada. This will enable A/E's, owners and others doing work throughout the continent to see how competitive in price masonry has become in different locations, and will also enable local masonry interests in making comparisons.

IMI has contracted with Association Sterling film distributors to open a new free-loan library of IMI films, as a means of providing better service in Western Canada. This will give IMI distribution centers in New Jersey and Ontario serving Eastern North America; and in California and the new center in Vancouver serving Western North America. For a free copy of IMI's catalog of films, and listing of free-loan film centers, send a request with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to IMI.

The 1976 IMI Promotion Meeting will be held at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, June 20-23, 1976. The Empress, a Canadian Pacific Hotel, is described as "a famous refuge from the pace of 20th century living," while Victoria has been described as "a piece of England in North America." The location is reached by air with change-of-planes in Vancouver (30 minute flight) or Seattle (45 minute flight) or by car from Vancouver, which takes about 22 hours with a 2-hour ferry crossing involved, or about 5 hours from Seattle with an extensive ferry ride.
