Pacific Ist Federal Savings

(Continued from page 23)

The structure was originally designed using other facing materials but when the costs were considered, it was found a substantial savings in dollars could be made without sacrificing the desired architectural effect by using face brick.

An interesting detail was adopted at the roof line by the use of an angled soldier course of brick to cover the building's mechanical system.

The Vancouver City Planning Department cooperated with the owners and designers by allowing tree planting areas in the sidewalks, a fountain and diagonal lines of brick for the walking areas.

Fourth Annual Project In The Park

On July 20, 1976 the Minnesota Concrete & Masonry Contractors Association held its Fourth Annual Project in the Park at Moir Park in Bloomington. In the area of the park designed with outdoor gym equipment for the handicapped, the MC & MCA built a drinking fountain specially designed for the handicapped, a barbecue and a poured exposed aggregate serpentine sidewalk. Six labor unions supplied the labor and nine suppliers furnished the materials.
