The Percy L. Julian High School met the need for a new facility in a rapidly-growing inner-city area to serve as an expansion to the other district schools, and also provide special teaching programs which were lacking. To provide the flexibility to meet these several needs, a "House" concept was used three "Houses" (each considered a "school within a school") provided basic school needs for 666 students each, thus reducing the impersonal impact that a single 2,000-student school would have. Architect was Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Chicago; mason contractor was V. S. Wallgren Company, Chicago.

The Wieboldt Office Building, Evanston, Architect: Barancik, Conte & Associates: Pepper Construction Company the Mason Contractor. is a loadbearing five-story office building erected on a 100 x 180′ urban site. Although its main requirements are function and economy, red hand-made-looking colonial brick used in carefully detailed lintels, window sills, cornices and piers add crispness and blend in with the existing traditional character of the surrounding area.
