CIMA Elects Officers
Nearly 300 top equipment manufacturing executives adjourned the 7th annual meeting of the Construction Industry Manufacturers' Association (CIMA) in November after electing a new slate of officers and predicting that 1977 could be the "comeback" year in their new equipment sales.

Meeting just outside of Chicago, the CIMA convention was the largest in seven years since the association began holding annual meetings in its own right. Elected to preside over its activities and programs during 1977 were:

President, Dale S. Gronsdahl, a vice president of Caterpillar Tractor Co.; first vice president, William B. Eline, general sales manager, Terex Division. General Motors Corp.; second vice president, Robert D. Strawser, president, CE Division, Hyster Co.

New Slide Show Available
To Mason Contractors
In continuing efforts to get more masonry jobs for mason contractors and craftsmen in North America, the International Masonry Institute (IMI) has produced a new 20-minute slide show, Loadbearing & the Mason Contractor. It includes 2x2 color slides in a carousel drum and container, script, and cassette record narration. The cost is $70.

This educational production was created in consultation with John Mock, AIA, president of Hendrick & Mock Architects, San Diego, Calif., noted for its award-winning designs in loadbearing masonry. The slide show is intended primarily for MCAA members and general contractors who have not yet built a project which utilizes the modern loadbearing masonry system.

Request copies or more information from IMI, 823 15th St., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20005.

Computerized Construction
Forecasting System
A computer-based system which will forecast energy-related and industry-wide construction activity and skilled labor needs in local areas is being developed by four federal agencies, Secretary of Labor W. J. Usery, Jr. has announced.

Scheduled for operation by late 1977, the system will provide long and short-range forecasts in local areas across the nation and will also make possible national and regional projections of construction activity and construction labor needs, highlighting the nation's energy-related developmental plans.

In addition to the Department of Labor, the computerized system is being developed by the Federal Energy Administration, Energy Research & Development Administration, and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
