The Yearbook contains concisely written summaries of significant metric developments during the past year in the areas of business and industry, education, and state and federal governments. Among the developments covered are the seventeen presidential nominees to the U.S. Metric Board which was provided for in the Metric Conversion Act of 1975 (PL 94-168) to coordinate metric conversion in all sectors affected by the changeover. A particularly active area during 1976 were state governments with the formation of an Interstate Metric Committee operating through the National Governors Conference plus the establishment of metric councils in many states.
The Yearbook also provides a well-rounded picture of business and industrial metrication consisting of representative reports of efforts by companies of many different types and sizes.

This new publication from the National Bureau of Standards provides the technical basis for a single, comprehensive and authoritative standard for SI to be used in building design, product manufacture and construction applications.
The publication describes the nature of SI and gives rules and recommendations for the presentation of SI units and symbols and numerical values associated with SI. Comprehensive tables are included that show working Sl units and typical applications in areas such as thermal effects and heat transfer, lighting, and acoustics.

Timetable Available
The revised fifth edition of Record Retention Timetable, an 8-page guide to the question of how long must you keep important papers, has been released by Electric Wastebasket Corp., 145 W. 45th St., New York, N.Y. 10036. Copies are available free when requested on a business letterhead.
The guide opens into a chart which names the government authorities and states the specified time the law demands for retention of over 170 listed office records.

The Construction Specifications Institute has established a program to certify construction specifiers. The voluntary program was established by specifiers themselves in an effort to increase an awareness of the importance of specifications and to improve specification practices.
