New Guardrail System
Morgan Manufacturing Co., Box 160, Yankton, S.D. 57078, has introduced a new guardrail system that uses its stringer braces as rails. The guard rail post is a new accessory that lets the rails be removed easily when material is being stocked to the movable platform of the scaffolding. The post also provides the support for a toe board when one is required.
Radiation Data Sheet
Stark Ceramics, Inc., P.O. Box 8880, Canton, Ohio 44711, has released a data sheet detailing the radiation shielding qualities of its structural facing tile. The tile has been found to provide radiation protection equivalent to standard thicknesses of lead in diagnostic radiology shielding application. The data sheet contains complete technical information and protection characteristics of five available wall assemblies as well as approximate in-the-wall cost per square foot.
Unique Pocket Level
What is claimed to be a "unique and highly accurate" 36-in. "Extensible" Pocket Level has been introduced by Building Guarantee Corp. of America, W220 N. 3197 Springdale Rd., Pewaukee, Wis. 53072. The company says that the combination bubble level and steel rule is as accurate as the standard 36-in. level used by professional tradesmen. It retracts into a compact unit which can fit into a shirt pocket. Extended, it serves as the base of the level or as a plumb when used vertically.
Perlite Bulletin
A new publication titled Perlite Loose Fill Insulation is available from Perlite Institute, Inc., 45 W. 45th St., New York, NY 10036. Specifically prepared for use by architects, engineers and mason contractors, the four-page booklet has detailed "U" value data for insulated and uninsulated cavity wall, block wall, and concrete block wall construction. It also contains a description of loose-fill insulation as well as a guide specification. Data are presented in both English and SI (international) units.
Thomsen Grout Pump
An entirely new concrete and group pump, the Thomsen 260, has been introduced by Thomsen Division of Royal Industries, 130 W. Victoria St., Gardena, Calif. 90248. The new machine is designed specifically for use in pouring foundations, slabs, columns and basements, and for pumping lightweight aggregate, grout and mortar. A 30 hp gasoline engine (or an optional diesel engine) powers the new 260, which is said to pump up to 28 cu. yds. of concrete or grout per hour.
Rubber Safety Boots
A well-known Dutch line of rubber safety boots for use on building and construction projects is now available for export to the U.S. and other countries. The waterproof boots help to prevent slips and falls on wet surfaces and provide excellent traction in mud and snow. The boots come with a built-in toe cap and, if required, a steel sole lining. Alternate Heat Source
A new, 600,000 btu/hr direct-fired heater designed for industrial use has been announced by the Atomaster Division of Koehring Co., P.O. Box 719, Bowling Green, Ky. 42101. The oil-fired Koehring Model K600 will operate continuously for over 8 hours on just one filling of kerosene or No. 1 fuel oil. Warehouses, construction sites and similar areas can be heated instantly with the unit. The K600 runs on standard 120 volt, 60-cycle outlet with a 3-prong plug.
New Case Forklifts
JI Case Co., 700 State St., Racine, Wis. 53404, has announced the availability of its new "C" series forklifts offering componentized power-train, four-speed synchromesh transmission with power shuttle and torque converter. The features are standard throughout the Construction King line of 584C, 585C and 586C models. The componentized power train design simplifies servicing- individual components can be removed without disturbing other drive line members, which saves maintenance time and expense.
Hand Cleaner
"Shop" industrial waterless hand cleaner is a new, heavy-duty, multi-use hand cleaner that is powerful enough to remove a wide variety of tough soils and stains from hands without being hard on skin. With or without water, the product is effective in removing hard-to-remove substances ranging from tar and asphalt to adhesives and caulking. "Shop" cleaner is available nationally through authorized distributors of National Laboratories.

A six-page brochure illustrating the operational features of its new line of industrial tractors has been published by Massey Ferguson, Inc., 1901 Bell Ave., Des Moines, la. 50315. Color photos were used to illustrate the design, operating functions, options and performance capabilities of the four new models. Also highlighted are the options available on each model, such as independent PTO and instant reverse transmission.
