Masonry Institute Exhibits
At St. Louis Home Show
The Masonry Institute of St. Louis recently displayed an impressive exhibit at the St. Louis Home Show which drew more than 62,000 persons. The exhibit was aimed at the general home buying public and featured lighted panels showing the benefits of living in a masonry home. The highlight of the show was a bricklaying contest which was held several times each day and attracted large audiences. Brick patio benches which were displayed in the exhibit were given away as attendance prizes. Golf tees and ballons with masonry slogans on them were passed out to all who viewed the exhibit by the hostesses and local mason contractors, union officials and material suppliers who helped to man the booth and answer questions about masonry construction.
Taking part in the bricklaying contest at the St. Louis Home Show are Alfonzo Holman, bricklayer apprentice from Bricklayers Local #1 of Missouri; Gail Sloss, administrative assistant with the Masonry Institute of St. Louis, and a volunteer from the audience.
