"NEAR HURRICANE FORCE" TEST...
MORTASERE
BONDCRETE
U.S.G.
proves Portland/lime mortar resists water penetration best!
Under sponsorship of U.S.G., and other leading producers of masons lime, an independent laboratory recently completed a dramatic water permeance test of 30 individual masonry panels. Ten commonly used mortars were tested. The mortars tested included portland cement and various lime mortars, as well as prepared masonry cement mortars. Both BONDCRETE Air-Entraining Masons Lime and MORTASEAL Autoclaved Masons Lime were used in the test. Workmanship and materials were precisely controlled to minimize variables. The walls were then cured for 28 days before testing. And what testing! Water, equivalent to a rain of five-and-one-half inches per hour, was jet forced against each panel at a velocity of 62% mph for 72 hours! Results showed that mortars made with BONDCRETE, or MORTASEAL, or even other lime other lime products with portland cement resisted water penetration better than masonry cements.
