An informal atmosphere conducive to learning was the keynote at the recent MCAA Masonry Estimating Seminar in Indianapolis. Here course instructor Jerry Pope reemphasizes his estimating formula to an attentive class of mason contractors, estimators, and other key construction management personnel.
MCAA Masonry Estimating Seminar Held in Indianapolis
Representatives of mason contracting firms located as far away as New York and Texas traveled to Indianapolis, Ind., to attend the latest MCAA Seminar on "Masonry Estimating For a Profit" at the Ramada Inn Airport Hotel, October 26-27. This was the 18th session on estimating in the current series of courses being conducted under the auspices of the MCAA Management Institute.
The course instructor is estimating authority Jerry G. Pope, vice president and manager of special projects of Hensel-Phelps Construction Co., Greeley Colo. Pope, who is current president of the Colorado Mason Contractors Association, has been responsible for estimating and bidding more than $2 billion worth of construction over the past 19 seasons.
Twenty-nine persons from eight states attended the Indianapolis seminar, bringing the total number of participants in the 18 courses conducted by Pope to approximately 600. Total attendance for the MCAA estimating seminars since their inception 15 years ago now exceeds 2,200.
With their course materials at hand, seminar participants listen to the points being made by instructor Pope.
