Brick Production Rises
In Oklahoma Plants
Major new brick production facilities in central Oklahoma are expected to increase state output and help alleviate the present shortage of materials.
Acme Brick has a new brick plant in Edmond, which will increase brick availability by approximately 50 million units this year. Acme also is continuing production at its original Edmond, Tulsa and Clinton plants.
Oklahoma Brick has announced a new plant proposed for Tulsa, which would provide another 50 million brick annually to the Sooner state.
Brick Facade Specified
For Highrise in East
The Radnor Corp., a Sun Co. subsidiary, broke ground in June for Ten Penn Center, a $40 million, 27-story office tower at 18th and Market Sts. in Philadelphia, Pa. Construction of the brick-faced office building is scheduled for completion in May, 1981.
The 630,000 sq. ft. tower continues the westward movement of the $500 million Penn Center complex of office buildings, hotels, apartments and transportation terminals. Symbol of Philadelphia's downtown renaissance, the mile-long development includes some 20 new highrise buildings completed in the past 25 years.
The Radnor Corp. building will overlook a sculpture garden and a hand-set brick pedestrian plaza studded with seasonal plantings. The energy-efficient structure, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Chicago architects and structural engineers, will feature an earth-tone brick facade and anodized bronze insulating windows. Turner Construction Co., Philadelphia, is the general contractor for the project.
