Francis, FAIA, vice president, William Kessler & Associates, Inc., and Richard Black, AIA, executive vice president, Hobbs & Black Associates, Inc. The winners were selected from entries submitted by Michigan architectural firms by a jury of architects from Minneapolis, Minn. The architects of the winning projects, their owners and the mason contractors involved in the construction received the cast-bronze "M Awards" at a banquet at the Dearborn Inn in Dearborn.

Rossen/Newmann's award was its second straight in this program. The firm also won a 1977 award for its design of the Troy Place office complex in Troy (Masonry. March, 1978).

Mason contractors honored were G. Forte Co., St. Clair Shores, for Cleaners Hanger Co.; D. R. Bidwell Masonry. Plymouth, for the Ann Arbor Fire Department Headquarters: Western Waterproofing Co.. Detroit, for the Livingston County Courthouse restoration, and Shawnee Shores Construction Co., Brooklyn, Mich., for McDonald's Restaurant.

Featured speaker at the awards banquet was Herman D. J. Spiegel, professor of architectural engineering. School of Architecture, Yale University.

Routine, daily maintenance costs money. It costs in labor. It costs in lost productivity. And, if you forget to do it, it can cost you a machine. Which is why we build the Model 120 Plaster and Mortar Mixer so you don't have to worry about forgetting. In fact, except for normal engine fuel and oil, you don't have to worry about daily maintenance at all!

The Model 120 is equipped with a self-adjusting, spring-loaded packing that never requires greasing. There's also a completely sealed transmission and clutch to provide positive engagement between engine and paddle-shaft. This eliminates belt slippage and the ordinary wear and tear that causes a mixer to grow old and tired. Add on Essick's standard, rugged construction and reliability and you've got the best money-making combination on the market: greater productivity and longer life.
