PART II-PRODUCTS
2.01 UNREINFORCED MASONRY
A. Cementitious Materials:
1. Portland cement:
a. ASTM C 150-, Type.
2. Hydrated lime:
a. ASTM C 207- Type S.
B. Sand:
1. ASTM C 144-. except:
2. Grading to comply with BIA M1-72.
C. Admixtures:
1. No air-entraining admixtures or material containing air-entraining admixtures.
a. Air content limited to 12 percent.
2. No antifreeze compounds or other substances shall be added to mortar.
3. Mortar color may be added, but not to exceed requirements of BIA Μ1-72.
4. Water must be clean and free of deleterious amounts of acids, alkalies or organic material.
D. Use Type mortar of BIΑ Μ1-72.
2.02 REINFORCED MASONRY
A. Material for mortar shall meet requirements of Sections 2.01.A, 2.01.B and 2.01.C.
B. Aggregates for Grout:
1. ASTM C 404-.
C. Use Type mortar of BIA M1-72.
**OR**
C. Use Type PL mortar of ASTM C 476--
PART III - EXECUTION
3.01 Mix in accordance with proportion requirements of BIA M1-72 or ASTM C 476-
3.02 Control batching procedure to insure proper proportions by measuring materials by volume.
2.01.A.1.a Only Type I, II or III.
2.01.D Type M, S, N or O, depending upon design requirements and application. Only Types M, S and N permitted for engineered brick masonry.
2.02.C Type M or S, depending upon design requirements and application.
3.02 Proportions can be by weight if volume proportions are converted to weight proportions.
