LOUIS HELBERT
continued from page 27
"The membership potential that could be ours is overwhelming. We have been too complacent in waiting for results from our Membership Committee's efforts. The integrity of our organization is at stake if we cannot provide a good enough reason for the untold number of non-member mason contractors to join our ranks."
He believes that new members are the lifeblood of an association, and that MCAA's priorities have to be restructured to make this a reality. "It is my intent to suggest to the Executive Board that we, the Board, assume direct control of the membership campaign until our goals have been met. Every member will be asked to participate and make this an all-out Association effort."
Louis admits to difficulty in anticipating exactly what effect his term as 16th president will have on MCAA, but he adds, "I have one thing going for me that no other president had. The structure of the Executive Board, along with the qualifications and dedication of each member, is the best ever. The respect that we have for each other is tremendous, and our accomplishments as a team will reflect this attitude.
"We. the Board, have an obligation to the industry, and it is our intent to fulfill it to the best of our abilities. Hopefully, when my term in office is history, our critics will be able to say, 'well done.'"
