WILL YOUR FIRM MAKE MONEY?

will changes in costs and in volume be accounted for in the system? The three overhead keys are prediction, application and monitoring.

As a contractor, you may find that when the accountant pulls your books together at the end of the year, it is too late for you to take corrective action. Can you afford to wait? What if he tells you that the loss was substantial? What can you do about it at that point?

Will your company make any money this year? We hope so, but you can't afford to sit around and wait to find out. If you don't know what the end of the year will look like, we suggest that you review the three basic financial-management steps-prediction, application and monitoring of all cost factors, especially overhead expense.

Housing Rehab Schools Scheduled
A new educational program featuring several schools for builders, developers, architects and lenders interested in housing rehabilitation has been launched by the National Housing Rehabilitation Association, Washington, D.C.

The first two of these schools will be offered in March, 1981, the NHRA said. Both the Urban Ventures School, scheduled March 8-12 in New Orleans, and the Urban Recycling Seminar, offered March 19-20 in Baltimore, are supported by a grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank Board.

The Urban Ventures School is designed to teach the home improvement contractor or other relatively small builder the fundamentals of operating a successful rehabilitation business. It will be repeated May 10-14 in San Francisco.

For registration information including curriculum outlines and application forms, contact: Peter Bell, National Housing Rehabilitation Association, 1300-19th St., N.W., Suite 310, Washington, DC 20036. Phone: 202/466-8760.

Scaffolding Goes to the Ballpark
Tubelox tube and coupler scaffolding played a key role in the construction of a mammoth 2.700 sq. ft. instant replay screen at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles. Continental Heller, Sacramento, Calif. general contractor, chose Patent Scaffolding Co.'s Tubelox to erect the 36 ft. high screen. According to Patent, the ability of the scaffold to be infinitely adjusted enabled the contractor to hit his levels exactly, thereby speeding construction and expediting productivity.
