proves portland/lime mortar resists water penetration best!

Under sponsorship of U.S.G., and other producers of masons lime, an independent laboratory completed a dramatic water permeance test of 30 individual masonry panels. Ten commonly used mortars were tested. The mortars tested included portland cement and various lime mortars, as well as prepared masonry cement mortars. Both BONDCRETE Air-Entraining Masons Lime and MORTASEAL Autoclaved Masons Lime were used in the test. Workmanship and materials were precisely controlled to minimize variables. The walls were then cured for 28 days before testing.

And what testing! Water, equivalent to a rain of 5% inches per hour, was jet forced against each panel at a velocity of 62% mph for 72 hours! Results: Mortars made with BONDCRETE, or MORTASEAL, or even other mason limes combined with portland cement resisted water penetration better than masonry cements. Contact your local U.S.G.
